Families,

Here are two important updates/reminders as well head into the final week of the school year:

1. Board of Education Seeks Community Input into Superintendent Search. Complete the Online Survey!

Members of the Bexley Board of Education have officially launched their search for Bexley’s next superintendent and are focused on finding an exceptional leader to carry the school district’s work forward.

Critical to the Board’s work is understanding what the Bexley families and community members value and expect from the district’s top leader. Please complete a short, online Community Survey related to the search as quickly as possible. The survey closes on Tuesday, May 26, at noon.

Access the Community Survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BEXCOMM

2. No Classes / District Closed Tomorrow, May 25

Tomorrow, May 25, we mourn and honor the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Let’s have a great final week of the school year!

CAMP HAMWI 2026 - DIABETES CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Registration for Camp Hamwi 2026 is still open!

Camp Hamwi is a summer camp program for youth living with diabetes focused on building confidence, independence, friendships, and lifelong community connections in a fun, safe, and medically supported environment. 2026 Camp Hamwi programs include:

Day Camp (Ages 3–12)

  • June 8–12, 2026
  • Located at Blendon Woods Metro Park in Columbus, Ohio
  • Campers spend the week hiking, playing camp games, doing crafts, participating in outdoor activities, and building friendships with other youth living with diabetes.

Overnight Camp (Ages 7-17)

  • Senior Week (Ages 13–17)
  • July 19–25, 2026
  • Junior Week (Ages 7–12)
  • July 26–August 1, 2026
  • Located at Camp Mohaven in Danville, Ohio
  • The overnight camp experience includes activities like kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, camp games, outdoor adventures, evening programs, and so much more.

One of the most impactful parts of diabetes camp is the sense of community it creates. Campers spend the week surrounded by peers and staff who truly understand life with diabetes. Camp helps youth develop confidence and independence in their diabetes management while simply getting to enjoy being kids.

Camp Hamwi provides 24/7 medical oversight throughout all camp programs. The staff is trained in recognizing and treating low blood sugars, and over 70% of the program staff are individuals living with diabetes themselves. Camp Hamwi partners with Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital, whose endocrinology attendings, fellows, residents, nurses, and medical professionals help support the camp’s programs each summer.

To help make camp more accessible, Camp Hamwi uses a tier-based pricing system that allows families to choose the payment level that works best for them. Additional scholarship support is also available for families who need financial assistance beyond the lowest tier.

Registration deadlines are approaching, but space is still available across programs. There will be an upcoming virtual Camp Hamwi Q&A session on May 28th and June 22nd where families can learn more about camp, ask questions, and meet members of our team.

This camp is not sponsored by Bexley Middle School or Bexley City Schools.
