The Lion Ledger: 04/26/2026

Families,

This past week, our 8th grade class traveled from Bexley, Ohio to Washington, DC for a 4-day field trip experience. Students had an opportunity to visit a variety of historic sites in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area including Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, United States Supreme Court and Maryland Zoo! Additionally, the 8th grade class had an opportunity to meet with United States Congresswoman Joyce Beatty who represents Ohio's Third Congressional District. The group heard from her before a question and answer opportunity, group photo on the grand steps of the United States Capitol as well as lunch and tour inside the building . Congresswoman Beatty shared encouraging words to the students stating, "I am not going to tell you that you are our future because you are not. You are our present." A huge shout out to Congresswoman Beatty's team, our PTO and chaperone for their support this week!

This week, we will be administering Ohio State Testing at the Middle School. Below, please locate our schedule of tests:

  • Tuesday, April 28 - Math, Part 1 (6th-8th Grades)
  • Thursday, April 30 - Math, Part 2 (6th-8th Grades)

Ohio State Testing will be administered from 8:35-12:04 on all of the dates listed above. Please note these dates and plan to have your child in attendance for testing. Here, are 5 practical tips for parents to support our students and school community as we approach testing:

  • Get plenty of rest: Aim for at least 8 hours so you wake up refreshed and focused.
  • Eat a good breakfast: Fuel your brain with something nutritious before the test.
  • Arrive on time: Being early reduces stress and gives you time to settle in.
  • Listen Carefully to Directions: Your teachers will explain everything you need to know. Stay focused and ask questions if you're unsure.
  • Stay Calm & Do Your Best: Take deep breaths, read directions carefully, answer all questions and don’t rush.

HERE you can locate our Ohio State Testing presentation for students. Please review with your child.

Let’s go, Lions!

This is the result of work done on the building level throughout the school year. We are not a perfect school but will continue to work to support an environment that supports all students and works to combat hate. We will share information with our student body and ask for your support in the process. Please review the form above that is being shared with all Bexley students (grades K-8).

Please review this LETTER highlighting 2026 Bexley PPEs. Also, please note the following:

A parent or custodial guardian is required to be present at the PPE event with their student-athlete. This ensures that if any abnormal findings come up during the exam, they can be addressed immediately with the parent or custodial guardian.

We have also clarified situations where it is more appropriate for families to see their primary care provider or pediatrician instead of attending the PPE. This includes: Student-athletes with chronic or complex medical conditions, particularly those involving the heart.

Student-athletes who already have an annual physical scheduled — we encourage families to keep those appointments to meet the PPE requirement.

Families should arrive to PPEs with completed and signed paperwork.

Please note that if an abnormal finding is identified during the PPE, it is unlikely that our Sports Medicine team will be able to fully clear the student-athlete on-site.
