Middle School Recognizes October’s Core Value of the Month Honorees

The Middle School PBIS Committee recently recognized the Staff and Student Core Value of the Month award winners for October. The awards recognize three students who stood out for embodying Inclusion – “creating space for everyone to belong by embracing all of our differences.” Inclusion is one of the district’s seven core values, which also include Empathy, Equity, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, and Well-being.

The monthly awards also recognize a faculty member, who is nominated by students in recognition of a teacher who has made a difference in their lives and embodies inclusion.

Congratulations to 6th grader Ellis Walker, 7th grader Shea Daily, and 8th grader Sam Krohn! Congratulations also to faculty member Alex Jordan, an art teacher at Bexley Middle School!

BE A CHAMPION

Two High School Students Recognized as ‘Champions’

This week, we highlight the champion efforts of two Bexley High School students, sophomore Nate Krohn and freshman Drew Carlisle!

Nate was nominated by a faculty member for demonstrating Responsibility, one of the district’s seven core values. His nominator wrote that he clearly takes full ownership of his learning and models responsibility and dedication every day.

While Drew was nominated for Demonstrating Kindness, one of the district’s three mission pillars, his teacher explained in her nomination that he actively champions his classmates through his actions, “making sure no one is left struggling or feeling overlooked.”

Way to BE Nate and Drew!

High School Students Use Class-Related Networking Event to Build ‘Social Capital’

Eighteen BHS students from Marybeth Motasem’s personal finance class took a step toward career building during a professional networking event this week.

Held during class time on Monday morning, Ms. Motasem welcomed 18 professionals from many career fields to Bexley High School for one-on-one networking with her students. Set in the backdrop of the Dargusch Theatre, the easy-going event included light refreshments made by the students.

Ms. Motasem said the event would help students develop their “social capital” – allowing them learn how to network in order to grow connections and relationships. The students shared their future education and career interests via their introduction “pitches” with the professional guests, many of whom were alums or have ties to the Bexley community. In return, the students learned much about the career journeys of their guests and picked up advice, tips, and encouragement for their future.

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to meet with our students!

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
