We’re happy you’re here! It is our mission to champion the future in Bexley by building on the excellence experienced in our schools for many years. As a district, we work hard to provide each student with opportunities to thrive and all faculty and staff members a rewarding place to work.
We are a school community of champions. We champion our curious student-learners, demonstrate kindness in our classrooms, hallways and beyond, and embrace equitable learning opportunities for all. It is common for students and adults alike to champion peers, mentor others, and give back to our community. Simply, we celebrate what makes each individual unique and work hard to propel each child in our district forward in their educational journey.
The Bexley Schools community would not achieve excellence without the long-term support of our highly dedicated faculty and staff, community leaders and residents. Our families, community partners, and key organizations, such as the Bexley Education Foundation, our PTOs, and booster groups, are critical to the opportunities provided within our district. Each student can find and pursue their passions in Bexley because of the support of our community for high-quality and meaningful learning experiences.

“I am deeply honored to be selected as the next Superintendent of Bexley City Schools. Having previously served the district as Director of Curriculum and Gifted, I know how incredibly special the Bexley community is and am proud to lead a district that champions curiosity, kindness, and equity. The Bexley community is exceptional, from its students, to engaged families, deeply dedicated faculty and staff, and an extraordinary, generations-deep commitment to educational excellence. I look forward to building upon the remarkable foundation already established here, cultivating strong partnerships and trusting relationships with our Board, staff, students, parents, and community, and working collectively to champion outcomes that make our entire school district proud. Summer 2026 Community Update Newsletter
Dr. Katie Nowak Superintendent
Dr. Katie Nowak began her tenure as Bexley superintendent on Aug. 1, 2026.
Before her appointment, Dr. Nowak served as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for New Albany-Plain Local Schools. She previously served as Bexley’s Director of Curriculum and Gifted Education.
As Assistant Superintendent in New Albany, Dr. Nowak managed the district’s curriculum, assessment and instructional programs, as well as all Human Resource functions for certified and licensed staff members. She also managed the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education, Special Education, and Assessment & Accountability, and coordinates districtwide initiatives supporting student well-being, belonging, and culture. Earlier in her tenure in New Albany, she served as Director of Assessment & Accountability, Intermediate School principal, and principal of its Grades 2-8 building.
Early in her education career, she served as both a teacher and administrator at the elementary and secondary levels in South-Western City Schools, where, in 2016, Dr. Nowak was recognized as the state’s National Distinguished Principal for Middle Level Education by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA).
Dr. Nowak earned her Doctorate and Superintendent Licensure from Concordia University. She also holds a Master of Arts in School Administration from The Ohio State University, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Teaching, and a Bachelor of Science in Education, both from Bowling Green State University.
Dr. Nowak and her husband, Brent, have two sons, Matthew and Mason. Brent Nowak is also an educator and serves as a middle school science teacher.
