Social Emotional Development

A team of NCH mental health professionals is available by referral to provide supports for Bexley student’s K – 12. NCH services are supported by a grant from ADAMH (Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County). NCH counselors can provide school-based appropriate counseling, workshops, prevention education student groups and other counseling duties. Developed by Search Institute, this student survey emphasizes the strengths and supports that students need to protect against risk behaviors and promotes thriving indicators. 4th-12 grade students take the survey every 3 years

Led by the Center for Suicide Prevention and Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, SOS is a nationally recognized suicide prevention program that works to: 

• Decrease suicide attempts by students
• Increase the ability of participants to identify signs and symptoms of depression and to respond in a way that keeps students safe 
• Encourages students to seek help for themselves or a friend 

The overall of goal of the program is to reduce youth suicides by teaching students and staff to recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide and depression in themselves.  Students go through the program in 7th and 10th grade.
